Creative Works by HG is owned and operated by Heather G.

Heather has been a practicing artist for over 30 years. She obtained a AA from Saddleback College, Mission Viejo, CA in Fine and Applied Arts in 1996. She went on to take over 30 extra credits in most of the areas of Art: Painting, Drawing, Sculpture, 3D & Multi-Medium Study. Essentially adding up to the equivalent of a full four year degree. 

Heather first started her own mural, faux finishes and decor painting business in 1996 while she was finishing up college. Her clients included doctors offices, restaurants and private homes. Most of the jobs consisted of decor wall art accents, faux finishes in bathrooms and children's bedrooms, custom personalized wall paintings and small furniture remodeling/refurbishing. 

She after becoming a mother and volunteering at her children's school, she discovered that she loves helping others experience the joy of art. She taught children ages 4-15 years of age for 8 years, she operated a summer ArtWorkshop business with a partner for 8 years. During that time multiple families came back year after year to enroll more of their children into the program. Also having previous students coming back in the Junior/Senior years in High School to get their volunteer hours for graduation, as mentors and helpers. She has stayed in contact with many of her students and their families for years and both students and their families comment on their experiences even 10 years after the fact, showing how much of an impact she had on their growing creativity and introduction to creating art themselves. 

For the last 17 years, Heather has been a Sign Artist for Trader Joe's (Nationally known Grocery Store). Her work includes wall murals, custom merchandising and advertising for the store, display and seasonal promotional signage and shelf signage for the thousands of Trader Joe's products. Many of her TJ's customers have become private clients over the years. 

Most recently, Heather has launched Creative Works by HG - to produce original works of art mostly using reclaimed and repurposed materials and supplies. She creates 2D and 3D collage pieces as well as recycled glass/wood/metal pieces. She creates "Naughty and Nice" works:  some very floral, whimsy and lighthearted - others stepping into the dark and macabre side with witchy, skulls, horror and fright in mind.

Heather believes that art is found in many forms and that creativity and expression is a wonderful outlet for many emotions. That there is no "wrong" way to create - it should be a gateway for release of imagination, exploration and expression.
